"The word bread goes back to the pre-Slavic form * xlěbъ , which is probably a loan from the Germanic Proto-language (German. * Xlaiƀaz ), or from some early Germanic dialect (usually considered to be from the Gothic language ) [4] . According to another version, “bread” can be a primordial word for both Germans and Slavs ".
